本稿は、オランダ・フローニンヘン美術館（GroningerMuseum）の学芸員クリスティアン．J．A．ヨルグ氏の論考「Japanese Lacquerwork Decorated after European Prints」を訳出し紹介したものである。京都、長崎の漆器工房に発注された純西洋的意匠、器形の漆工品がテーマである。注文に基づく西洋風の漆器の珍しい作例の紹介と、その手本となった西洋版画が具体例を示している。
